Dr. Kevan Whipple, DPT, MBA, ECS, OCS
Dr. Kevan Whipple graduated from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania in 2000, as one of the first graduating classes in the United States to offer a Doctor of Physical Therapy program. That foundation led to many years of additional experience and training in EMG and nerve conduction testing.
Dr. Whipple has extensive experience in both orthopedics and electrodiagnostics. He is board certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in both orthopedics and electrophysiology.
Work experience includes being the Director of a work injury specialty group, owning private practices, nine years as the Senior Staff Physical Therapist for the Salt Lake City VA Hospital, and providing EMG and nerve conduction studies for physicians and other health care providers for many years.
Dr. Whipple has a long history of teaching. He was the Director of the Orthopedic Post-Doctoral Residency Program that he co-founded with the University of Utah and received CAPTE accreditation in 2013. He also helped create one of the more recognized student internship programs in the country at the Salt Lake City VA Hospital, that includes a clinic attending model for student mentoring, a weekly didactic lecture series, and a primary care physical therapy clinic.
Dr. Whipple is adjunct faculty with the University of Utah since 2003. He has spoken at numerous conferences, been published in peer reviewed journals, been interviewed in Advance for Physical Therapists, published a peer-reviewed book on back pain, represented the APTA as an expert on ergonomics and injury prevention, helped publish a white paper on safe patient handling and movement, and co-wrote the curriculum currently endorsed by the APTA for safe patient handling and movement instruction that is used in all doctor of physical therapy programs.
